Geek Chic Maternity : Kimi + Kai Maternity Navy & Burgundy Ensemble

Ok, so I have been obsessed with Kimi + Kai since my 1st pregnancy (here I am in the final trimester with my 2nd in utero) and so I wanted to share some of my favorite outfits from this pregnancy. I did wear most of my clothes from my 1st pregnancy (with this kiddo being planned I didn’t get rid of anything since we were trying for a repeat). I did add some new pieces to my maternity wardrobe and I want to start by showing you an outfit that is just magnifique!

This Maternity Coat from Kimi + Kai – I was swooning over the 1st time around but didn’t think I’d need a wool coat living in Los Angeles… but I learned from the first time around that I do travel a good bit to the east coast (NYC, Atlanta, and FL) and it does get cold here (though, it’s rare). Having a coat that fits my pregnant body is such an amazing thing so, I submitted to the craving for this gorgeous military inspired coat in Navy and Burgundy and am so freaking glad I did… my only issues I had with it were when I took it out of the plastic packaging a spider jumped out at me and I lost my crap…. and also my first time putting it on I tried to fasten the buttons and the very first button jumped off the coat and I had to sew it back on using my intensely mediocre sewing skills. Both both issues were resolved by me very quickly. Because this time around my “swollen belly baby apartment” grew faster I felt like I should size up from my normal medium in maternity to a large (which at first when I tried on my pieces from Kimi + Kai seemed like a terrible idea as everything was a little big) as I enter my third trimester I have to admit that it’s nice to have a large and it seems to fit better now.

Anyone that knows me pretty well either via the internet or IRL should really know by now – I LOVE POLKA DOTS – and during my first pregnancy I snagged 2 Polka Dot Dresses from Kimi + Kai. This time I didn’t go crazy and only went for one simple polka dot dress in navy, the Claire (and I didn’t realize that the Pan coat had a polka dot lining…BONUS). I love the simple styling and the little subtle hint of polka dots on the shoulders and back.

I have been pregnant since late July and my pregnancy will last through mid April so it’s pretty important to have some versatile accessories for pregnancy since I have been pregnant both times during winter and I looked at this outfit and knew I needed some colored tights – I went over to ASOS who just happened to have several pairs on sale and I snatched up these burgundy tights thinking they would be perfect for this outfit and I am pretty sure I made the correct decision.

Lastly my look would not be complete without the rest of my accessories that come from my trusty closet – my Sam Edelman booties (have a bunch of pairs of these in different colors – so comfy), my Zenni glasses (also have a ton of glasses from Zenni, and my necklace which is a tiny guitar case that opens (I’ve had it forever) from Lucky Brand.
