Geek Chic Events: The Bridgerton Experience: The Queens Ball, Los Angeles

los angeles, la, the queen's ball, the bridgerton experience

The Bridgerton Experience is an immersive experience available in several cities including, DC, London, Montreal, and I think Chicago… as well as Los Angeles. I bought tickets nearly a year ago when I was newly pregnant thinking it would be a lovely little thing outting to do with my best friend after the baby arrived. However, the 2 night event was cancelled and replaced with a much longer residency at the gorgeous Millennium Biltmore Hotel (the most recent home to the Labyrinth of Jareth Ball for the past several years). The only problem was the date change set the event to start after my best friend moved crossed country…. so, unfortunately she would not be able to come with me – but I did enlist two of my favorite other cohorts to join me, Heidi Cox and Rick Mann. As someone who A.) loves regency era films and TV, B.) immersive experiences I could not be more excited for this event. It didn’t really disappoint at all. Things that stood out to me including both the costuming of the guests and performers. The flow and schedule of events. The photo opportunities and set dressing. The bar with specialty themed cocktails. I made a TikTok of the event if you want to check it out…

I would venture to say that 95% of attendees arrived in appropriate regency themed attire and the 5% that weren’t in the correct style of attire were dressed in formal wear of some kind or another.

The costumes of the performers were spot on. My outfit I’m not ashamed to admit, came mostly from Amazon… because I couldn’t decide what to wear and at the last minute – Amazon Prime for the win…
My Dress, My Belt, My Gloves, My Feathers, My Fan, My Crown (I didn’t end up wearing but should have)

The schedule: when you arrived they checked your vaccine cards and tickets and you then could get cocktails at the lobby bar in the hotel or shop in the gift shop outside the event entrance before getting in line to enter. Once you entered through the long tunnel of wisteria you were greeted with Lady Whistledown’s latest pamphlet… you could grab drinks from the event lobby bar, shop at the modiste, take photos in several photo opps in the lobby, or look around at many costumes on display from the show. At your own pace you could enter the throne room of the queen where you could pose for portraits with a photographer that magically turned your image into a oil painting you could edit at several very cool digital easels and then magically filled frames in the throne room and all the rooms around the event as well as you could send to your phones or devices. Eventually the queen entered with her court and you had a chance to be presented to her and the opportunity to be named the diamond of the season. After each individual is presented a voice over gives you feed back on your presentation. Several people are handed cards saying the queen has her eye on you. The Queen exits and everyone is invited to a beautiful ballroom dressed in hanging curtains and picture frames with guests portraits, flowers everywhere, a string quartet, we are introduced to 2 characters that are courting each other these characters teach a few dances to the attendees and a lady dressed as a bee also teaches dances, a performance between the 2 lovers happens involving ballet, silks/tissu, and dancing while spinning on a chandelier. When their performance ends the queen returns to announce her pick for “Diamond of the evening” I’ve seen lots of videos on social media of different types of diamonds that has been “crowned” from elderly diamonds, to diamonds who are crowned then get proposed to, our diamond was a woman dressed as lydia, from beetlejuice in the red wedding dress and had just before being crowned rolled her ankle. After the diamond is announced the event changes to a modern day dance party with music from Beyonce, Black Eyed Peas, etc. It was really fun and one of my favorite events I have ever attended. Though it would have been super cool to be chosen as the diamond it is just as fun to not be the diamond.

The event dates keep being extended, even a Bridgerton Tea has been added (and sold out very quickly). Even more cities are being added as I believe Atlanta was just announced. Bridgerton Season 2 is now streaming on Netflix.
