My newest baby is growing (7 months) but all of the sudden my closest friends are slowing starting to have babies which has me thinking – what things did I absolutely need with both of my kids that I should try to make sure my friends (and you) have when preparing for a baby to arrive. So, whether you missed these on your registry or you are days away from your baby arriving these are things you can find quickly and easily and you will absolutely not go wrong with having in your arsenal.

1.) Dock-a-tot
A Dock-a-Tot is not cheap but it is worth every penny… knowing that your baby is safe and secure before they can roll over and being able to nap next to your baby there is no greater gift than a peaceful mind! Anything that makes me feel less anxious as a new mom is so helpful!

2.) Adorable fitted crib sheets and muslin blankets that match your theme for nursery or baby
I took a lot of those precious baby photos on sheets or wrapped in swaddles or laying on swaddlers – so get a few you absolutely love! Lulu’s theme was space and science and I loved her constellation sheets and Julian’s theme was Fantasy and Dragons.

3.) A Comfy & Cute Diaper Bag
Honestly any bag with compartments will work but there are so many cute diaper bags these days – I have several amazing ones of all different sizes and shapes – my favorite right now is this adorable Cactus print stroller caddy from Twelve Little – my favorite parts are the wipes flap on the side, the hooks and straps to attach it easily to my strollers (I have a single and a double stroller currently) and the top zipper for quick reach-ins.

4.) Awesome Bottles
I love the Boon Nursh bottles (this time around) – whether you are nursing or not at some point you will need someone else to help you feed – it makes a huge difference – so, don’t be afraid to pump! What’s great about the nursh bottles are that the silicone lining collapses as your babe drinks making less air and gas AND you can get lids to convert them into food or snack storage as your kids get older —- win! Side note I’m kinda a big fan of Boon… their products are all very contemporary in design and always in cheerful colors I had several Boon items with my first child (the drying grass, the collapsable bathtub) but just like their bathtub our collection has expanded to include more of their products with baby number 2.

5.) Black T-shirts and Leggings
Ok, sounds weird but how many black tees and leggings do you have in your closet? I have a ton so, how come it’s so hard to find these basics for babies? You don’t have to have a goth baby to enjoy a black tee – I love them to go under overalls for my baby boy or to go with a pair of super girly pink leggings for my little girl – they balance out everything and are so neutral which is probably why we have so many in our own wardrobes – but they are hard to find —- well, not really- cause I found them for you! Primary.com has solids and stripes in EVERY color – even black!

6.) Baby Frida Products (Especially Nose Frida)
A Booger sucker, gross (that’s what you think… but wait till you have a baby and need one and use one!) It’s not gross at all it makes your baby feel better! Also love their fingernail clippers with a little window to see what you are trimming, their nose wipes with essential oils to help ease cold symptoms, the boxer briefs for dad with a built in cup to protect your future babies – everything they make is great!

7.) A Bottle Brush
You gotta clean your bottles and it’s hard to get in all the little cracks and crevices so, a bottle brush makes a great gift you wouldn’t think of!

8.) Your Own Hospital Gown
Ok, so this is more for you than your baby – take your own hospital gown to the hospital and this makes an amazing baby shower gift – hospital gowns typically tie in the back but if you buy your own or register for one – grab a maternity gown that snaps all the way down the back so your tushie isn’t hanging out and has snaps in the front to help you nurse baby right away if you choose to, pick a fun design (though I suggest dark colors or even black because after delivery if you want to take pictures of you and your newborn – you probably don’t want it to show all your noticeable bodily fluids that have exited you with your child)

This post is not sponsored or an ad for or by any brands mentioned – these are just simply my favorites that I think every parent should have! What are your favorites and what do you think other moms must have?!
