Fashionably Nerdy Events: The Scenario Studio Pop-Up: Los Angeles

Yes, another day another pop-up museum… I’m definitely a fan of this unusual trend of interactive museums – The Scenario Studio is slightly different than most as there isn’t a real theme – just super high quality photo set-ups in the basement of the Grand Central Market, it’s pretty no frills… just walk from set up to set up shooting as long as you want – but these set up’s are really amazing and full of details – most have props and costume pieces and the real thing that makes this place different is that this was created by a guy that does Photo Booths for celebrity events so he isn’t messing around – he designed the lighting and set ups so that even the most amateur photographer can get great high quality shots on their phone or camera even offering suggestions on filters, and camera settings based on whether you are using an iPhone, android, or professional camera. I had a chance to check it out with our Fashionably Nerdy friend, Jenny Lorenzo.

They have a lot of unused space so they could expand and offer more setups (currently they have 8). The set-ups were – 1. a makeup station with lighted mirrors, etc, 2. a grey wall that says scenario studio but has an amazing huge fan to make your hair blow the perfect amount to make you look like a celeb, 3. a classroom set-up (that we kinda had to turn into a Hogwarts classroom by writing Muggle Studies on the blackboard and adding in Harry Potter Books and wands – cause we are nerds), 4. a super serious brown kinda steampunk background, 5. a spooky haunted mansion kinda room, 5. a roulette wheel casino room, 6. a room decked out in koi wallpaper with matching upholstered chair and lamp and table – with matching clothes for you to blend in, 7. a wind blown scene with a motorcycle with a sidecar (also super duper Hagrid vibes if you add a wand, 8. a bright yellow dancing on the ceiling room

There is not a restroom within the area of the pop-up however, there is one close by and they do have a small changing room if you want to change outfits.

My favorite set-ups were the haunted room (we went in mid-September so we have Halloween on the brain) and the school room. One thing I’m kinda noticing that is weird is that whoever runs their social media posts a very generic “Love this *heart emoji* Thanks for coming and playing with us *all the emojis*” every. single. time. I post a photo on instagram and tag them as the location – so, they could mix that up since I still have 5 million more photos I will post from there.

Overall though, I thought what was there was top notch – there was no theme but the photos came out great… so, I’m not sure what is more important? What do you think? What’s your favorite pop-up?
