A couple weekends ago I was honored to have a Harry Potter Baby Shower thrown in my honor by my best friend Camille (fashion designer of Frakkin Frocks and 2016 Her Universe Fashion Show Winner). We planned a lot of the shower together and had help from our friend Heidi and my family with setting up, etc. I was so excited to have my Aunt, Mother, and Sister come to Los Angeles to help us celebrate (This was my mom’s first trip to Los Angeles).
Everyone was encouraged to join us in Harry Potter Attire.
I wore my Blue Porcelain Anastasia Dress from Tiffany Rose with my Ravenclaw Cardigan from Hot Topic. (People kept asking if I was wearing blue because we were having a boy — no, we still don’t know the gender, I am just a Ravenclaw. #HarryPotterPeopleProblems)
I had the invites printed on InviteShop.com and I really loved the design of these, though they only are available in Gryffindor colors… but, they were too cute to not fall in love with right away. I had seen Ravenclaw ones (like this other one) on etsy but they were a whole lot more expensive for the amount of invitations I needed.
We had a small brunch for our extended family before the shower started. The menu included quiches, croissants, salads, fresh fruit, pumpkin pasties filled with pumpkin and butterscotch and mimosas. After brunch the doors to Hogwarts were open to friends and students. The menu expanded with tea, cucumber sandwiches, cheese and crackers, chocolate mandrake cupcakes, cookies in house colors, and butterbeer pudding cups.
The decor was mostly all handmade and included house colored felt and ribbon pennants, quilted lightening bolt garland, house colored tissue paper tassels, floating candles and even a custom embroidered tablecloth made by Camille.
We spent the afternoon playing baby shower games (Harry Potter themed of course that I made) using wand pens (that Camille and I made) and giving out Harry Potter themed prizes to winners from A Bird In The Hand, Bewitched Bazaar, and more. We ended the day with opening presents and playing baby bingo (you win a prize if you guess what presents we receive and get bingo). It was so lovely to be showered with love, advice, and presents.
–Divination (guess the date, time, weight, length and sex of the baby)
–What’s in Your Purse (Hogwarts style – points for objects you have in your bag)
–Harry Potter Name Race Game (get a points for writing names from the Harry Potter Series for every letter of the alphabet)
–Wishes for Tiny Wizards (fill in the blank advice for life for the baby – to be laminated and bound for our Tiny Human)
–Advice Cards for The Mom To Be
-Baby Animal Game (What do you call the baby version of a bunch of animals)
(We also had a couple of games we had prepared just in case but didn’t get to… like Harry Potter Birth Year Trivia, Pin the Scar on Baby Harry, and Mad-Eye Libs)
Since I created my own digital files for all of these games along with answer keys I have made them available for you to purchase them on Etsy as a package.

The trip into motherhood can sometimes be scary and surprisingly can feel super isolating but having a day like this made me feel better prepared and much more loved. I needed a little bit of magic to help me welcome in my tiny witch or wizard and I definitely got a whole lot.
Keep a look out because I will have another post soon about a bunch of the decorations and DIY stuff if you are interested in throwing your own Harry Potter themed party or baby shower in the future.
Also, here are some videos of my Baby Shower presents haul. This is not nearly all the very generous gifts we received (we got so many wonderful and thoughtful gifts) these are just the “Fashionably Nerdy” ones…
