Comic Con is only 3 days away, are you a planner or a go with the flow person?
Either way… here are my top picks for things to do & see on Thursday of Comic Con this year! Keep a look out – I will be bringing you the top picks for Friday-Sunday also as well as the best fashion events!

BEST ALL DAY PARTY:
The Wired Cafe

(it’s at the Omni) Open Bar, One Day Only – If you can get on the list – try to because everyone always raves that it’s their favorite part of Comic Con & I agree. It’s invite only and RSVP’s are required. Since it is only one day this year they are also throwing an after party.

Level-Up Your Style with Geek Fashion
Thursday: 1:00pm – 2:00pm   –  Room 14A

Geek Fashion saw unprecedented growth in the past year, and with more choices comes more opportunities to make these clothes fit your own unique geek. This will be a hands-on panel that will talk about how to express your own unique style with geek clothing and accessories, classic layering pieces, hair/makeup, nails, and more. The panel will also highlight their favorite designers, retailers, and trends and discuss where they would all like to see geek fashion go in the future. Join moderator Dina Kampmeyer (fashion judge, The Geekie Awards) and panelists Amy Ratcliffe(Nerdist, Star Wars online), Anastasia Washington (Fashionably Nerdy), Josephine Moss (Geekosphere community analyst), Katie Elspeth (theatre costumer), Stephanie Bray (Subtle Fashion Geek), and Stephanie Pressman (Fashionably Nerdy) and learn how to shop and style smart, the geek way.

The Most Dangerous Women at Comic-Con: The Good, the Bad, and the Deadly

Everyone can all name a favorite villain or two: the Joker, Darth Vader, Loki. But how many of your favorite bad guys are actually bad girls? How to Make A Movie with a Camera Phone

Mobile Film Festivals are becoming the next big thing. Cell phone cameras now have the capability of shooting 4k – which makes cell phone filmmaking now a possibility to be taken seriously. San Diego Independent Filmmaker Paul Giret (Film For Food) will explain the process of how to use your everyday mobile device as a movie making tool. Giret recently was one of the 15 participants in the Qualcomm 4K Challenge in which contestants were given a 4K Motorola Droid to produce a short film that will also play at the San Diego Film Festival this year. He will be joined by his cast member Carol Morrow (Supergirl Unburdened) from his mobile film “Pitch and Hitch” and Mike Egbert who will elaborate on the production process. Topics will cover on what filmmaking tools, Dolly, Jib, Slider, Car Mount to use, how to properly attach the camera to these tools, what apps work best to control your exposure, what is the workflow and how to handle footage during post-production (editing) process. Join this panel along with Ty Mabrety (Bang Zoom Pow) and Crystal Hubbard (Supergirl Unburdened) who helped make Cell Phone Films from script to screen. With special guest moderator Machelle Noel (GeekRockTV & Faith Hollywood TV).

Careers in Costuming

The Costume Designers Guild Local 892 discusses costuming as a career and the many different possibilities that exist today. Panelists include vice president of the Costume Designers Guild, Catherine Adair, costume designer, Ivy ThaideCelia Rogus from FIDM, illustrator and concept artist Gina DeDomenico Flanagan, assistant costume designer, Christine Cover-Ferro, IATSE 705 Custom Made field rep Renee Nault and specialty key costumer Karen MasonEddie Marks, president of Western Costume, as well as Alan Scott and Shane Mahan from Legacy Effects. The panelists are here to answer your questions about making a career in costuming. Camden Toy (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) moderates.

Featuring a panel of some of the most well-known stars of the web series world: Joanna Sotomura (Video Game High School, Emma Approved), Christine Lakin(Telltale Games The Walking Dead, Lovin’ Lakin), Jonathan Robbins (Out With Dad, Clutch), Nicole Wright (Progress, Super Geeked Up), and Vanessa Verduga (Justice Woman). The Her Universe Fashion Show
Thursday: 6pm  at Manchester Grand Hyatt Hotel Harbor Ballroom
(1 Market Place, San Diego, California, 92101)
2 years in the making, The Her Universe Fashion Show will feature 36 new fashions created by 36 designers. This inaugural event has an incredible twist: Two lucky designers will win a grand prize, chosen by a panel of judges and the other chosen by the audience, to co-design with Ashley an exclusive Her Universe fashion collection for Hot Topic. This out-of-this world “Geek Couture” Fashion Show is THE “must see” event at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con! Tickets are on a first come, first serve basis but you must have a San Diego Comic-Con badge to attend. Doors open at 5:30pm.

Geeks Go Glam
Thursday: 8pm at San Diego Public Library * Ticketed Event*

Geeks Go Glam is the only party at Comic Con where tuxedos, dresses and high heels are not only encouraged – they are part of the fun. Come in your best nerdy black tie or glamorous nerdy ensemble.
There will be live music, a tea party offering of tea, coffee and delicious snacks, a photo booth, a raffle with amazing prizes from your favorite chic nerdy retailers and lots of dancing with other glamorous geeks. The first annual Geeks Go Glam party is hosted by The Nerdy Girlie and Being Geek Chic!
