Fashionably Nerdy will be at San Diego Comic Con International this year and our schedule includes Stephanie & Bonnie Modeling for Her Universe Thursday Night, a Fashionably Nerdy Panel on Friday and a Fashionably Nerdy Meet-Up on Saturday.

Game of Bloggers
San Diego Comic-Con is so much more than just seeing an amazing show. It’s an opportunity to join forces with allies, meet revered social media warriors and forge new life changing alliances. After Preview Night, I invite you to revel with myself and the Nerd/Geek/blogger/YouTube/Social Media/Photography/Comic-Con community- as well as fellow fans. The last two years have been amazing as hundreds of websites have come together to connect with each other and enjoy drinks, food, music and selfies. It has been a full capacity+ event and it was such an honor to finally put faces to houses and collaborate on future projects. We all know that creating content year round is not easy and Game of Bloggers S3 is designed to celebrate you! Stay tuned for more event details, announcements for prizes, special guests and entertainment. Game of Bloggers will also feature the most talented group of fashion designers at Comic-Con! Exhibiting their latest apparel, not only will you have a chance to get a sneak peak at what is next but you’ll also be able to purchase onsite as well! Make sure to meet and interview these amazing designers!

Raising Fankids: Teaching Young Geeks To Be Self-Confident and Successful

Pasquale Piro (middle-school teacher, father of two) hosts a panel with Alissa Piro (high school teacher, mother), Christina Silvoso (Christina Is Crafty, mother), Brandon Maze (high school teacher), Rafe Gerson, and Tatti Che to discuss techniques and experiences that help kids grow up nerdy without the negative connotation.

Nerd Living

Anastasia Washington (Legion of Leia, Jet Set Nerds), Angelique Toschi (content strategist), and Stacy Renfroe (Knit Hits the Fan, Cartoon Network) of Nerds in LaLaLand teach you tips about incorporating geek into your everyday lives through crafts, cooking, and fashion. Other panelists include Melissa Howland (We Are Movie Geeks), Miley Yamamoto (Ingress), Marlon Reynoso (Nerd Coolture), and moderator Nic LaRue (Film Snobbery).

The 4th Annual Her Universe Fashion Show

The annual event pairs fashion and fandom, offering budding designers the chance to show off both their designing skills as well as their pop culture loves. Last year’s event featured designs inspired by everything from Star Wars, Marvel, Harry Potter, Wonder Woman, and much more. Fashion designers will once again be able to submit their pieces, inspired by geek culture, to compete for a chance to show off their final designs in the live show. Finalists will compete at the live event, with the winner(s) being selected to be a guest designer with Her Universe to develop a collection to be sold at Hot Topic.

Cosplay Makeup 101

Panelists go into what it takes to perfect your cosplay by having great makeup to go with it. It will cover beauty makeup, appliance application, special FX makeup, sculpting, molding, casting, and wig styling. Professional makeup artists and wig stylists Dawn Banks (plus size model, Batgirl: Spoiled lead makeup designer), Ashley Troub (winning look SDCC Her Universe Fashion Show 2015 and 2016, Nerdist All Kings Considered), Keaghlan Ashley (Face Off season 7, Face Off All-Stars, key makeup artist Severus Snape and the Marauders), Kelton Ching (SFX makeup artist, Kanye West’s “Famous”), and Chrissy Lynn (Bat in the Sun’s Super Power Beat Down, Truly Outrageous: A Jem and the Holograms Fan Film) will answer your questions about makeup to match your costuming and cosplay and offer tips and tools of the trade. Moderated by cosplayer Mac Beauvais (Monstrous Makeup Manuals 1 and 2 model, actress in The Gloaming).

Ikerd-Schreiter (professional Wonder Woman double, cosplayer, child advocacy lawyer), and Cindy Nelson (award-winning cosplayer, founding member Over30Cosplay, Renaissance Entertainment Productions staff member) celebrate the history of comics culture, offer couple’s cosplay ideas, and combat negative, age-related, stereotypes. Moderated by Lisa Granshaw, panelists Ed Labay (Hot Topic), Ashley Eckstein (Her Universe), Symantha Perrera (ThinkGeek Denver), Allison Cimino (RockLove Jewelry), Sean Gailey (J!NX), and Tony Kim (Hero Within) will discuss the big changes that occurred in the industry over the last year, how partnerships are formed and grown, where the industry is going next, and more.

Character Creation: Makeup Effects for Cosplay

Makeup effects artist Jeff Barkley (Frost: Portrait of a Vampire, Monster Manor, Delirium) will demonstrate how to create a character makeup using generic foam latex prosthetics. Joining Jeff will be pro cosplayers Trey Barkley (Sparrow’s Flight) and Desiree Preston (Enasni Volz) to help answer any questions about wearing prosthetics while in costume.

Transforming Character to Costume: DC Superhero Costumes from Workroom to Film Set

The Motion Picture Costumers IATSE Local 705 leads a discussion exploring the different positions behind the scenes in Hollywood’s costume industry. Learn about the journey each costume takes to become part of your favorite onscreen character’s appearance with expert panelists Bob Morgan (costume supervisor, Batman V. Superman, Man of Steel), Mike Welch (set costumer, Batman V. Superman, X-Men: Days of Future Past), Federico Cervantes (key specialty costumer, Batman V. Superman, Watchmen), Stacia Lang (custom-made cutter fitter, Aquaman, Man of Steel), and Lisa Fullerton (custom-made stitcher, Aquaman, The Hunger Games).

Hero Within turns one years old and they are celebrating at San Diego Comic-Con. As a sister event to Game of Bloggers on Preview Night, The RED WEDDING AFTER PARTY will be the perfect way to close out a week of Comic-Con. Our founder, Tony B Kim, wants to invite you to join us at the House of Blues Saturday night starting at 9:30p for music, friends and of course, nerd dancing.
Cost: Free but require a Comic-Con Badge. Game of Bloggers Badge gets VIP admission
