Espionage Cosmetics Teams Up With The Wicked + The Devine

Announced today Espionage Cosmetics is launching a new NAILED IT! nail-art collaboration with Kieron Gillen & Jamie McKelvie for their wildly popular & beloved comic The Wicked + The Divine.  Available for pre-order December 16, 2015!

Wicked + Divine nail art will be introduced into the Espionage Cosmetics line starting with nail wraps and eventually branching into licensed makeup collections. A total of 5 nail wrap sets will be released one at a time over the next 18 months, each set featuring the iconography of two gods chronicled in The Wicked + The Divine.

The first set to be introduced: Luci & Laura. This set of nail wraps will not only highlight each, respective, god’s iconography from the graphic novels, but will introduce gold and silver foil stamping into the Espionage “Nailed It!” line. Luci & Laura will be available at www.espionagecosmetics.com, at conventions throughout the country, and at a comic book store near you!

Preorders begin December 16th and shipments of limited edition The Wicked + The Divine sets will be sent out between January 10-15th, 2016.

The Wicked + The Divine was created by the British team of writer Kieron Gillen and Jamie McKelvie, best known for their work together on cult indie hit Phonogram and Marvel’s Young Avengers. The Wicked + The Divine is available from Image Comics.

Espionage says, “When the option initially came up for us to work with the WicDiv creators, Jamie & Kieron we were all over it. As fans of their work and avid followers of the universe they had created, we were over the moon. This is a graphic novel that lends very easily to what we do. There wasn’t a moment of us having to figure out how to make it work, it just worked. WicDiv is a god-send (no pun in- tended) for a cosmetics company like ours.”

And why would McKelvie and Gillen be interested in a collaboration with a cosmetics company? “Espionage has done so much interesting work, taking some of our favourite comics like Sex Crimi- nals and Bitch Planet” Gillen says “and turning them into appropriate and beautiful things, we could- n’t help but be intrigued what they’d do with The Wicked + The Divine.”

Both The Wicked + The Divine creators have been very involved in the design phase of the nail art with the Espionage production team. The most important thing to them in the process? “WicDiv’s ambience and mood is such a big part of the book. We know what WicDiv is. We know what it isn’t. As such, we wanted to make sure that everything Espionage created seemed like a seamless part of what we do. Also, we’re control freaks who can’t leave anything alone.”

What’s next for this partnership? “Hopefully many more beautiful things that’ll inspire the Espionage designers” says Gillen “The fourth arc of The Wicked + The Divine starts in April, and it’s frenzied. Much material for cosmetics, we think.”
